| Overview
- Platform Lifts |
Cotswold
Lifts Ltd supply a variety of platform lifts for both the commercial
market and domestic market, we have the benefit of being able to pick
from more than one supplier. This means we can offer our customers
greater flexibility than most other suppliers. Therefore we are more
likely to meet your functional requirements and aesthetic requirements.

|
They
can travel in excess of 4 meters in vertical height, however
Cotswold Lifts would recommend that generally above this height
a conventional passenger lift should be used, if only because
they are significantly faster, this also applies if the usage
is likely to be high.
|
Entrances
can be placed on up to any of three sides at any one time, one side
must be kept for the drive gear, as a rule the lift structure can be
called semi free standing. However for ease of installation we would
ask for a light duty wall to fix to, having said this once the lift
is completed very little load is applied to this wall or any other
part of the building fabric except the base slab.

|
|
As
you will see from the photographs in this section, the aesthetics
of the lift can be greatly enhanced by matching the colour of
the lift with the building. Other options include, · Fully glazed
or part glazed shaft · Colour from RAL range 3 different door
styles
|

Many features
are available to make the lift more user friendly, they include.
 |
Power
operated doors, these include a clutch mechanism so that should
they contact |
| |
the
user they will not push them over. |
 |
Door
locking systems so that entry to the lift can be restricted to
specific |
| |
users.
Fold down seats for the semi able users. |
 |
Battery
operated emergency hand lower facility so that users can be released
from the lift |
| |
quickly
with the minimum of fuss in the even of a building mains power
failure. This is |
| |
always
in addition to the manual lowering and release system. |
 |
Telephone
communication systems. |
 |
Fold
down seat. |
 |
Voice
synthesisers. |

|
The
position of the lift is very important, it is preferable to keep
the lift at the front of the building, should the entrance be
raised up then an external lift can be supplied as shown in the
photographs in this section.

- Inclined Platform Lift |
Whilst
vertical lifts are preferred by virtually everybody including
the user and building owner, sometimes there just isn't the
space to fit one. We can then look at the option of an Inclined
Platform Lift. These travel up the stairs, can go around curves
and cope with intermediate landings. However we are the first
to admit that they are a last resort.
|
|
|
As
mentioned above, they are not everybody's cup of tea. Firstly
they do block stair ways when in use, you must seek the approval
of the fire officer before installing one, they are not easy
to use and are slower than a vertical platform lift. It is also
very difficult to make them aesthetically pleasing. Having said
all this some times they are the only solution available. The
picture shown is of an installation on to a Railway Platform,
we were refurbishing the passenger lifts on the station and had
to provide disabled access onto the station whilst we took the
main lift out of commission.
|
The
work was programmed to last 12 weeks so alternative means had to
be made to get disabled passengers from the platform to the overhead
bridge and into the main part of the station. An inclined platform
lift was the only solution.
This
style of lifts has various features to enhance its operation,
Cotswold
Lifts offer a free service, should you feel that either of the above
lifts fit your building application please contact use either by

we will be pleased to offer our services. We have engineers with
